Walk with me
One of the greatest things to do is to walk around London! It's not a fast paced walk, but not too slow either, it's just right. Come on a walk with me to get a feel of how great London is, see secret places that you have never seen before, notice buildings, statues and monuments as you've never seen them before, and learn something new about this great city.
Your guide will take you through the history of some of the most fascinating buildings, places, streets, parks and businesses in London.
If you would like to do a walk either privately or as a group of friends/colleagues, contact me. Please don't simply book a walk without contacting me first.

Those of us who live in London spend a lot of time walking to work, getting on the bus, tube and overground, never knowing or spotting the Black history that's right there in front of us.
Come on a walk and it will all be revealed - as if by magic!! Harry Potter's got nothing on us!! 😊
Avril's Walks and Talks will take you on personal guided tours around London that will show and tell you about these areas, buildings or statues etc. Areas such as Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey and Cleopatra's Needle all have a strong connection to African Caribbean history - but that's just the central London sights. Imagine how much history there is in the other boroughs around London!
Avril's Walks and Talks will take you through the Black history of the boroughs outside of central London. Areas such as Tottenham and Islington have their own prominent Black histories and someone needs to tell them!
If you are a group of friends who want to do something different or special, contact Avril's Walks and Talks for a special event. We cater for birthdays, anniversaries, friends from abroad who want to see London etc.
The guide walks at a pace that most people can keep up with so no worries about taking pictures. The guide will always give you time to enjoy the walk and take as many pictures as you want. Most walks last 2 hours, but can be longer if requested and would include a break.
Avril's Walks and Talks have one of the few Black Female Professional Guides in London. She is fully qualified and is a member of various well known institutions such as the British Library and the British Film Institute (BFI).
Avril's Walking Tour Tips
DO
Wear sturdy shoes
Bring a bottle of water
If it's a long walk, bring some food that's easy to eat on the go
Bring an umbrella (always...after all we are talking British weather!)
Turn up at least 15 minutes before the start time of the walk...that way we get to leave on time
Ask the guide questions ...but wait till they finish speaking! They might just cover your question!
Take lots of pictures to remind you of your special day
On roads with traffic lights, only cross when the green man shows ...or if on a zebra crossing
Pay the guide in advance (or get your tickets in advance)
Relax and enjoy the day
PLEASE DON'T: wear flip flops, block pavements so others can't pass or stand in the road
